Now in its 24th year the Delaware River Sojourn brings together all ages of paddlers for a week of fun on the River. Its goal is to heighten awareness of, and appreciation for the ecological, historical, recreational, and economic significance of the Delaware River and its tributaries, which flow through New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. The Sojourn combines canoeing and kayaking, camping, educational programs, historical interpretation, and more. The theme in 2018 was "Still Wild After All These Years," celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. The Delaware is the longest free-flowing river east of the Mississippi, a treasure to be preserved and protected. Two National Parks cover portions of the Delaware paddled in 2018, The Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River and The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. This year paddlers enjoyed many sections of the River beginning where the East and West branches come together and including two of the best rapids, Skinners Falls and Foul Rift.
